black sticky rice directions for a rice steamer?
i bought an expensive sticky rice cooker at a korean food store about a year ago and i recently discovered black sticky rice at a Tai restaurant .. which, by the way, is amazing!
I’ve read instructions online that say to boil or use a rice steaming basket with the rice being in cheese cloth..
is it possible to use a sticky rice steamer instead? …and if so, how do you recommend i do it?
Your khao neow dom can be “cooked/steamed” in your cooker. I would advise to soak it over-night before cooking. The traditional method of cheesecloth/ basket was because they didn’t have “non-stick” surfaced equipment to prepare the rice in, but restaurants still prepare in the old style method for authenticity. Steam as the instructions require.
