help!sharing food expenses?
I have a problem with my boyfriend. We live together and we share all the bills but we have a problem with the food expenses.I am italian and he is polish. I have tried to buy and cook italian food for him but he has lost weight because he told me that italian delicatessen are expensive but not enough for filling his stomach. Then he tried to cook polish meals for me, it is not so bad but I put on weight and that food is too heavy and I miss my italian food.
I know most of all the couples go shopping together and share the food expenses but maybe we should buy our own food?It will be strange to live in the same house and have different shelves for food, we are a couple not room mates, what I should do?

i don’t think it’s a bad idea to share food expenses. especially since you keep your income separate…it would mean you could choose to shop cheap or shop expensive…whatever meets your needs at the time. when my bf and i shop, we have three sections, yours, mine, and ours, in the cart. share the cost of things you’ll both use (condiments, milk, etc.) and then if you want some specialty items on the side, buy them yourself. you don’t even have to keep separate cupboards because i’m sure you know what you bought and what you didn’t….and the worst that happens is you eat a little bit of his and vice versa. when you love the person, that doesn’t matter so much.
